Yahoola Creek Dam & Reservoir

Scope of Work: 

  • 450 acre reservoir – included clearing & grubbing of dam, spillway site and entire pool area
  • Total excavation of flood plain was 200,000 cubic yards, construction of dam embankment was 400,000 cubic yards
  • The principle drain utilized double 5’x5’ reinforced concrete box culvert
  • Constructed a secondary reinforced concrete labyrinth spillway
  • Flood Plain work required significant dewatering which was accomplished with several series of well points and 4” and 6” vacuum pumps
  • Developed several borrow areas for required select fill material
  • Project included furnishing and installing internal dam drain systems (chimney drains and toe drains), consisting of solid pipe, perforated pipe, filter fabric, sand and other aggregates
  • Furnished and installed a prefabricated bridge over the labyrinth spillway and riprap armoring of the dam face and roadway abutments on existing highway
